SPEAKER_00:

Salvation and Eternal Life. In this episode of Mighty Moment, we continue our 31-day journey looking at the best of the best scriptures from the Bible. These are incredible passages that you'll want to remember. These are 88 of my personal favorite passages from the Bible, my top 101 verses. The total list of verses is not in any particular order, but the pairings of three for each episode loosely tied together by a theme. But each verse is independently worth memorizing. Contact Mighty Moment if you'd like a copy of my best of the best list. In this episode, we'll be looking at Romans 6.23, John 3.16, and Psalm 103 verses 2 to 4. Salvation is the heartbeat of the Christian faith, a gift from God that offers eternal life and hope. In this episode, we will journey through three foundational scriptures, each illuminating a unique facet of God's grace and love, and discover how they unite to offer us assurance, transformation, and everlasting joy. We will look at the profound themes of salvation and eternal life as presented in these key scriptures. Each passage offers a unique perspective on God's redemptive plan, his boundless love, and the hope that anchors our faith. Number 80 in our list is Romans 6.23. Reading in the New King James Version, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Reading from the New American Standard Version, for the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. And the Good News Bible reads, For sin pays its wage, death, but God's free gift is eternal life, in union with Christ Jesus, our Lord. The Passion translation reads, For sin's meager wages is death, but God's lavish gift is life eternal, found in your union with our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. The message version reads, Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death, but God's gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master. And God's Word translation reads, The payment for sin is death, but the gift that God freely gives is everlasting life, found in Christ Jesus, our Lord. This verse tells us what the penalty and result of sin is death. Then we read in Romans 3 23 that all have sinned, meaning each of us are under the curse and penalty of sin. We are in a pickle that we cannot get out of on our own. We need help. We need a Savior to change our destiny. Not only is this revelation incredible, that God wants to give us eternal life instead of what we deserve death, but it is a gift given to us freely. And Ephesians 2, 8 and 9 reminds us that this gift cannot be bought or earned, as it is solely in the grace of Christ we receive it. Lest anyone boast they did something for it. In 2019, billionaire Robert F. Smith stunned the graduating class of Morehouse College by announcing during his commencement speech that he and his family would pay off the student loans of all 396 graduates, a gift valued at around$34 to$40 million. This act freed the new graduates from the heavy burden of debt. The spiritual analogy to Romans 623 is clear. Just as Smith paid a debt the graduates could not easily pay themselves, Romans 623 teaches that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Sin earns us a debt, spiritual death, that we cannot repay. But God through Jesus offers us the free gift of forgiveness and eternal life. eighty one on our list is the famous John three sixteen, the depth of divine love. Reading from the New King James Version, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Reading from the New International Version, for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. In the New American Standard Version, for God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. The Passion translation reads, For here is the way God loved the world. He gave his only unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish, but experience everlasting life. The message version reads, This is how much God loved the world. And this is why, so that no one need be destroyed. By believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. And the Amplified Bible reads, For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world, that he even gave his one and only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in him as Savior shall not perish, but have eternal life. And the clear word reads, For God loved the world so much that he freely gave his only Son to come here and die, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will be given eternal life. This is perhaps one of the most known and best loved Bible verses in the entire Scriptures. Because it so succinctly summarizes the gift of salvation and clearly explains what Jesus did for us on the cross. Motivated out of love, God was not content to let us receive what we deserve for our sin, death. The wages of sin is death. No, he personally got involved. Not only is this gift amazing and undeserved, all may receive it. It, salvation, is exclusively offered through Jesus Christ, but it is not exclusive to who it is offered to. Whoever accepts Jesus may receive this incredible gift of a changed destiny. This gift is freely offered to you and me alike. All may experience the grace and joy and forgiveness and renewal through Jesus Christ. Numbers 82, 83, and 84 on our list are found in Psalm 103, verses 2 to 4. The overflow of God's benefits. Reading from the New King James Version, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits? Who forgives all your iniquities? Who heals all your diseases? Who redeems your life from destruction? Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies? Reading from the New International Version, praise the Lord my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases? Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion? Reading from the New American Standard Version, Bless the Lord my soul and do not forget any of his benefits. Who pardons all your guilt? Who heals all your diseases? Who redeems your life from the pit? Who crowns you with favor and compassion? The Good News Bible reads, Praise the Lord my soul, and do not forget how kind He is. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He keeps me from the grave and blesses me with love and mercy. The Passion translation reads, Yahweh, you were my soul's celebration. How could I ever forget the miracles of kindness you've done for me? You kissed my heart with forgiveness, in spite of all I've done. You heal me inside and out from every disease. You've rescued me from hell and saved my life. You've crowned me with love and mercy. And finally the message Bible reads, O my soul, bless God. Don't forget a single blessing. He forgives your sins, every one. He heals your diseases, every one. He redeems you from hell, saves your life. He crowns you with love and mercy, a paradise crown. This verse speaks to me because I tend to have a bad memory when it comes to how good God is to me. I need to be more intentional in remembering how incredible God is. He has done, is doing, and continues to do such wonderful things in my life. He has never let me down, he has never not accepted me back, he has never not shown me great mercy and forgiveness. What a wonderful God He is. Something that I've begun to do that helps me remember is actually keeping a book of remembrance and praise to God. Every day I take a moment to write down the things I'm thankful for, the praises and the specific answers to prayer. Reading this book reminds me of God's awesome goodness, so I will not forget. In conclusion, Romans 6 23, John 3.16, and Psalm 103 2-4 together form a beautiful tapestry of God's saving work. We see the seriousness of sin and the gift of eternal life, the depth of God's love in Christ, and the daily benefits of His mercy and restoration. Salvation is not earned, but received. Eternal life is not just a future hope, but a present reality. And God's love is both the foundation and the goal of our faith. Let us live each day in gratitude, sharing the hope we have found with a world in need of grace. Romans 6.23 showed us the consequence of sin, death, and the priceless gift of God, eternal life. John 3.16 revealed the motivation behind this gift, unconditional love. And Psalm 103 verses 2-4 invited us to reflect on and praise God for the benefits that flow from this salvation, forgiveness, healing, redemption, and crowning mercy. God's gift of eternal life is not given because of our merit, but because of His grace. As recipients of such a gift, our hearts can't help but respond in praise. Today and every day, may we live in awe of the salvation we've received and walk boldly in the hope of eternal life. Friends, in our next episode, God's Work in Believers, we will continue our look at the best of the best 88 Bible scripture passages by looking at numbers 85, 86, and 87 in my top 101 favorite Bible verses. We'll explore Romans 8.28, Romans 12.2, and Philippians 1.6. I hope you've enjoyed our time together, and I pray you have a mighty moment with God today. Be blessed.
