Speaker 3:

In troubled times. In this episode of Mighty Moment we continue our 31-day journey looking at the best of the best scriptures from the Bible. These are incredible passages that you'll want to remember. These are 88 of my personal favorite passages from the Bible my top 101 verses. The total list of verses is not in any particular order, but the pairings of three for each episode loosely tie together by a theme, but each verse is independently worth memorizing. Contact Mighty Moment if you'd like a copy of my best of the best list.

Speaker 3:

Life often brings challenges that test our faith and resilience. In such moments, it's essential to remember that God's Word provides assurance and encouragement. In this episode we look at three verses Nahum 1-7 reminds us of God's goodness and protection. Zephaniah 3-17 reveals His delight and love for us. And John 16-33 assures us of His victory over the world. Together, these passages offer a foundation of hope and peace in troubled times. We begin this episode with number 71 on our list, nahum 1.7, god, our stronghold in times of trouble. Reading from the New King James Version. Reading from the New King James Version. Reading from the New International Version and the New American Standard Version. In the Good News Bible it reads. The Message version reads God is good, a hiding place in tough times. He recognizes and welcomes anyone looking for help. And lastly, in the Living Bible, the Lord is good. When trouble comes, he is the place to go and he knows everyone who trusts in Him.

Speaker 3:

I see four key insights into this verse. Firstly, it describes God's character as good. He is dependable and is going to do what is best for us. He wants us to prosper and will never harm us. His motivation for helping us is that he loves us. We can depend on Him and His character. He is not good most of the time, but all the time. He is not dependable much of the time, but all the time. God, indeed, is good all the time. The second component of the verse is that God is a stronghold. He is a place of refuge, a place of safety that the enemy cannot penetrate, so secure is God's protection. We can sleep in the midst of the storm, knowing His walls will never fall and His arms will maintain their embrace around us. Nothing can snatch us away. We are truly safe.

Speaker 3:

The third aspect of the verse is the revelation, implicitly, that troubles will come. As a Christian, we are not exempt from the trials of this sinful world. Difficult days will come and are coming. The assurance of the verse is that when they do come, we have a safe place to retreat. They will not overwhelm us. And the last thing that I'm impressed with with this verse is that God knows us. He does not have to be caught up to speed on our situation In order for this protective agreement to be enacted. We simply need to believe and trust in Him, and he is ready to assist and help us. He already knows the situation and what needs to occur and help us. He already knows the situation and what needs to occur.

Speaker 3:

Imagine a mother and child caught outside in a thunderstorm. During the storm, the child finds solace in the embrace of her loving mother. The mom doesn't just shield the child from the rain, but offers comfort and assurance. She wraps her daughter in a warm embrace, shielding them from the storm. The child's fear melts away, not because the rain has stopped, but because they are safe in the arms of someone who loves them. God is that sheltering presence for us. Similarly, god envelops us in His presence, providing not only protection but also peace in our trials. Nahum 1.7 reminds us that God is both good and strong. A safe place in every storm. Number 72 on our list is Zephaniah 3.17, god's Delight and Love for Us.

Speaker 3:

Reading from the New King James Version the Lord, your God, in your midst, the Mighty One will save. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing. The New International Version reads the Lord, your God, is with you. The Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you. The New American News Bible reads the Passion Translation reads you and in his love, he will give you new life. He will sing and be joyful over you. The Passion Translation reads For the Lord, your God, is with you. The Mighty One who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will soothe you with his love and celebrate with you in happy songs. The Message Version reads your God is present among you, a strong warrior there to save you, happy to have you back. He'll calm you with His love and delight you with His songs.

Speaker 3:

The Living Bible reads For the Lord, your God, has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty Savior. He will give you victory. He will rejoice over you with great gladness. He will love you and not accuse you. And lastly, in the Amplified Bible. The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will be quiet in His love, making no mention of your past sins. He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. God has not gone anywhere. He is right here among us. Just because we are limited in what we can see does not mean that the Almighty God is not right here in our midst. This verse reminds us of who it is that we're dealing with. It is the Mighty One, the Almighty God Himself, who will save. This statement is a declaration that God will save and He'll enjoy doing it. It's His joy and privilege to help us as His children. We need never worry. If God is willing or wanting to accept us back, he does so with a great big smile and a huge bear hug.

Speaker 3:

Number 73 in the list is John 16, 33, christ's Peace in a Troubled World. Reading from the New King James Version these things I have spoken to you that in me you may have peace In the world. You will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. The New International Version reads I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace In this world. You will have trouble, but take heart. I have overcome the world. And the New American Standard Version reads these things. I have spoken to you so that in me you may have peace In the world. You have tribulation, but take courage. I have overcome the world. The Good News Bible reads I have told you this so that you have peace by being united to me. The world will make you suffer, but be brave. I have defeated the world.

Speaker 3:

The Passion Translation reads and everything I have taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world, you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world. The Message Version reads I have told you all this so that, trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace In this godless world. You will continue to experience difficulties, but take heart. I've conquered the world. And lastly, in the Amplified Bible, I have told you these things so that in me you may have perfect peace In the world. You have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous, be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy. I have overcome the world, my conquest is accomplished, my victory abiding.

Speaker 3:

This verse is saying that all these stories and instructions from the Word of God are meant to give us peace. How can God's Word bring us peace, even when we are in troublesome times? Because we know how it all ends God is victorious. We're going to have trouble in this life, we're not exempt, but we do not need to fear or be anxious or be worried, for Jesus has already secured the victory over the world. Done finished, complete, Not up for debate or questioning. Done finished, complete, not up for debate or questioning. Jesus won. When we are on Jesus' team, we are more than conquerors and nothing can overtake, overwhelm or conquer us.

Speaker 3:

In conclusion, Nahum 1.7, zephaniah 3.17, and John 16.33 together form a powerful portrayal of hope in troubled times. Nahum reminds us that God is our unchanging refuge, zephaniah reveals His delight and loving presence and John assures us of Christ's victory and the peace that he gives. No matter the storm, god is good, near and mighty to save. As we face life's uncertainties. Let us hold fast to these truths. God knows us, loves us and has already secured our victory in Christ. In every trouble, we are invited to rest in His goodness, rejoice in His love and take heart in His overcoming power. May these promises anchor your soul and fill you with hope today and always. Friends, in our next episode All Things Possible we will continue our look at the best of the best 88 Bible Scripture passages by looking at numbers 74, 75, and 76 in my top 101 favorite Bible verses.
