Speaker 3:

God's Sovereign Plan. In this episode of Mighty Moment, we continue our 31-day journey looking at the best of the best scriptures from the Bible. These are awesome passages that you'll want to remember. These are 88 of my personal favorite passages from the Bible, my top 101 verses. Granted, all the Bible is profitable for us to read, know and apply and admittedly there are many great passages and verses not on my list. It's very hard to narrow it down to just 101. Perhaps I'll work on a best of the best part too, but for now we'll cover these 101 verses that I have chosen. Contact Mighty Moment if you'd like a copy of my best of the best list. In this episode we will look at Numbers 55 through 58 on our list of my favorite 101 Bible verses, as we will explore three key passages that reveal the magnificent sovereignty of God over human affairs Proverbs 16, 9,. Proverbs 19.21, and Isaiah 46, verses 9 and 10. Number 55 on our list is Proverbs 16.9, divine Direction Amid Human Planning.

Speaker 3:

Reading from the New King James Version. The verse says A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. The New International Version In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. And in the New American Standard Version the mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. The Good News Bible reads you may make your plans, but God directs your actions. And in the Passion translation Within your heart, you can make plans for your future, but the Lord chooses the steps you take to get there. And the Message version. The verse reads we plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it. And in the Living Bible, we should make plans counting on God to direct us. And lastly, in the Amplified Bible a man's mind plans his way as he journeys through life, but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them. We all have dreams, we plan for the future, we set life goals to achieve, we strive to be successful and achieve certain ambitions. However, this verse reminds us that we are not in control of all the variables. While we can aim to accomplish something, ultimately we do not know the obstacles and challenges that lie ahead in our journey to meet that goal. We cannot guarantee success.

Speaker 3:

As a Christian, we set righteous goals, in other words, goals that honor God and harmonize with His purposes. We also make earthly goals, in light of the fact that this world is not our home. As the Bible says, we should seek first the kingdom of God, and all these other things will be added to us. God here is reminding us that, even when we have good goals and righteous desires, that it is he. He is the one who has the wisdom and power to direct us into success.

Speaker 3:

I'm reminded of the verse that tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from God. Even those things we achieve, accomplish or acquire are because of the Lord's grace and goodness. This verse reminds us that God is able to help us achieve our dreams. It also shows us that, after careful and prayerful deliberation, we move forward and walk in a certain way, or follow our heart or make plans. If, innocently, they are not according to God's will, then God will direct us back on the path, should we be willing to submit to His leading. Furthermore, this verse reminds us that the Christian, despite us knowing that Jesus is coming and coming soon, is empowered and encouraged to make plans. Make plans for the future, but live like today is your last Walk in the Lord's path and ensure our plans are in harmony with His, and he will direct our ways.

Speaker 3:

Number 56 in our list is Proverbs 19.21, the Endurance of God's Counsel Above Human Schemes. Reading from the New King James Version the verse says there are many plans in a man's heart, nevertheless the Lord's counsel that will stand. And the New International Version reads Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. The Good News Bible People may plan all kinds of things, but the Lord's will is going to be done. And the Passion Translation you can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail In the Message Version. But the Lord's purpose will prevail In the Message version. We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God's purpose prevails In the Clear Word. Man plans to do all kinds of things, but the Lord's plans are what will ultimately be done.

Speaker 3:

This verse reminds me of another verse in the Bible that there is a way to a man that seems right, but the way thereof leads to death, meaning the road to trouble can be paved with good intentions. The spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak. I can move forward, thinking I have the best solution or plans possible, but it is the Lord's plans that never need to be adjusted, altered or changed. Many times in my life, if I had sought the Lord's direction at the beginning, I could have saved myself a lot of pain and challenges Now. Granted, god can always bring us back onto the right path, but perhaps I should seek to stay on His path in the beginning rather than go on my own tangents that God then has to detour me back to His will. While God always has a contingency plan for my poor choices, may I seek His will at the beginning and yearn to hear and understand His voice telling me what to do and where to go. At a minimum, I need to be well-grounded in the Word so I do not go down a path that is knowingly contradictory to go. At a minimum, I need to be well-grounded in the Word so I do not go down a path that is knowingly contradictory to God. God's counsel is always right, always timely and will always guide us to success With a 100% track record. Why would anyone choose anyone else but to listen to the counsel from God from the beginning?

Speaker 3:

Proverbs 19.21 offers profound perspective on the relationship between human planning and divine purpose. The verse acknowledges the reality that we naturally generate numerous plans, schemes and strategies for our lives. This planning ability reflects our creation in God's image and is not discouraged. However, the proverb establishes a clear hierarchy Regardless of the quantity or quality of human plans, only the Lord's counsel will ultimately stand. This truth liberates us from the pressure of perfect planning and the despair of disrupted plans. When we embrace the enduring nature of God's purpose, we can plan confidently yet hold those plans with open hands, ready to adjust to His higher ways. Numbers 57 and 58 on our list come from the passage Isaiah 46, verses 9 and 10.

Speaker 3:

The unrivaled God who declares the end from the beginning. Reading from the New King James Version. Remember the former things of old, for I am God and there is no other. I am God and there is none like me. Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times, things that are not yet done. Saying my counsel shall stand and I will do all my pleasure. Reading from the New International Version. Remember the former things, those of long ago. I am God and there is no other. I am God and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times. What is still to come. I say my purpose will stand and in the Good News Bible, no one else like me. From the beginning, I predicted the outcome Long ago. I foretold what would happen. I said that my plans would never fail, that I would do everything I intended to do and in the message to happen, assuring you I'm in this for the long haul, I'll do exactly what I set out to do. And in the Living Bible, remember the things I have done in the past, for I alone am God. I am God and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.

Speaker 3:

Remembering how good God has been in your life helps us in our current journey, as we walk with the Lord through our current issues, obstacles and challenges. Basically, god is saying here I have never failed you in the past and I'm not going to start now. Our family has a book of remembrance in our home. I would encourage you to do this in your spiritual journey as well. It's kind of like the other half of a prayer journal. In this book, you record all the times God has been good to you, all the answered prayers, all the miracles, all the times he moved on your behalf. A book of remembrance will strengthen your resolve in the Lord and reassure you that the same incredible God who blessed you in the past is the same God that is with you in the present.

Speaker 3:

In conclusion, these three powerful scriptures Proverbs 16.9, proverbs 19.21, and Isaiah 46.9-10, combine to offer a strong theme of divine sovereignty that brings both comfort and perspective to our daily lives. In Proverbs 16.9, we saw the intimate interplay between our freedom to plan and God's guiding hand that establishes our steps. Proverbs 19.21 expanded on this truth, acknowledging the multitude of plans we generate while affirming that only God's counsel will ultimately endure. And Isaiah 46, 9-10 completed the picture by revealing God's unique ability to declare the end from the beginning, establishing His purpose with perfect knowledge and irresistible power Together.

Speaker 3:

These passages invite us into a life of faithful planning and trust in the Lord. We are called to exercise the gift of reason, making thoughtful plans for our futures while simultaneously presenting those plans to the Lord. Our God, the Incomparable One who knows the end from the beginning, lovingly directs our steps according to His perfect counsel. When we align our hearts with this reality, we find freedom from both the anxiety of uncertainty and the rigidity of controlling our own circumstances. We can plan with confidence and adapt with peace, knowing that our sovereign God is working all things together for His glory and our ultimate good Friends. In our next episode, strength in Weakness, we will continue our look at the best of the best 88 Bible Scripture passages by looking at numbers 59, 60, and 61. In my personal top 101 favorite verses, we'll look at Isaiah 40, verse 31, 2 Corinthians 12, 9, and 2 Timothy 1, 7. I hope you've enjoyed our time together and I pray you have a mighty moment with God today. Be blessed.
