Speaker 3:

Stillness and Trust. In this episode of Mighty Moment we continue our 31-day journey looking at the best of the best scriptures from the Bible. These are awesome passages that you'll want to remember. These are 88 of my personal favorite passages from the Bible my top 101 Bible verses. The total list of verses is not in any particular order, but the pairings of three for each episode loosely tie together by a theme, but each verse is independently worth memorizing. Contact Mighty Moment if you'd like a copy of my best of the best list.

Speaker 3:

Life's relentless pace and challenges often leave us exhausted and disoriented. In these three powerful Scripture passages, god offers a different way to navigate our journey Through stillness in His presence, complete trust in His wisdom and confidence in His unfailing support. Together they form a divine invitation to a deeper, more peaceful relationship with our Creator. In this episode we look at numbers 35 through 39 in our top 101 Bible verses. We examine Psalm 46.10, proverbs 3, verses 5 and 6, and Isaiah 41, verses 10 and 13. Number 35 in our list of 101 favorite Bible verses is Psalm 46, verse 10.

Speaker 3:

In the New King James Version it reads Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. In the New International Version it begins he says Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. The New American Standard Version reads Stop striving and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted on the earth. The Message Bible reads Step out of the traffic, take a long, loving look at me, your high God, above politics, above everything and in the Living Bible, stand silent, know that I am God. I will be honored by every nation in the world.

Speaker 3:

I believe one of the ploys and tools of the devil is to keep us so busy and our minds so occupied that we never pause. We don't have time to be still. We don't even know how to be still. Today, one of the more frustrating experiences I had as a younger man was I got pulled over by a police officer for speeding, and the truth was there was no need for me to be in a hurry. I had just become so accustomed to rushing. I rushed everywhere, even when I didn't need to. I'm reminded of the song by Alabama I'm in a hurry to get things done. I rush and rush until life's no fun. All I really gotta do is live and die. But I'm in a hurry and don't know why. God wants us to slow down and spend some time with Him, to know Him and learn of Him, to not get in God's way and to let God just be God. He is basically saying if you let me be God, I will do incredible things that everyone will see and they will honor me. Give me a chance to be awesome for you. Give up your worry and allow me to give you peace. Allow me to give you peace.

Speaker 3:

The Hebrew word for be still in Psalm 46.10 is rafa, which means to let go, release, surrender or cease striving. It conveys the idea of letting your hands drop or releasing your grip, essentially to stop the fight and surrender. This is not a passive resignation but an active yielding to God's sovereignty. The Hebrew word for know in this verse is yada, which implies intimate knowledge through experience, not merely intellectual understanding. Together, these words invite us to relax our grip on control and personally experience God's divine nature through intimate relationship. Research demonstrates a dramatic decline in human attention spans over the past two decades, largely attributed to our increasing digital immersion. A Microsoft study found that overall attention spans have decreased to approximately eight seconds today, actually shorter than a goldfish's attention span. Psalm 46.10 calls us to a counter-cultural practice being still and surrendering control to acknowledge God's sovereignty.

Speaker 3:

Numbers 36 and 37 in our list are from the passage Proverbs 3, verses 5 and 6. In the New King James Version we read Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding In all your ways. Acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths. The New International Version reads Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways. Submit to Him and he will make your paths straight. The New American Standard Version Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight. The Message Version Trust God from the bottom of your heart. Don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go. He's the one who will keep you on track. And the Living Bible Trust the Lord completely. Don't ever trust yourself. In everything you do, put God first and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.

Speaker 3:

The verse says with all your heart, which implies a complete trust, a total submission, not a partial leaning but an I'm-all-in kind of leaning. We are just not wise enough to handle our own journey Left up to us. We're going to mess it up. Even those things I want to do I find myself struggling to accomplish because I am frail against the troubles of the world and the spiritual battle against the enemy. Basically, god is simply saying to us to acknowledge we need help and that God is able and he will, when God helps, be the first to glorify Him, acknowledge Him in all our ways. Often I'll ask for the Lord's help but yet forget to thank Him when he does. Hiking is a lot easier when you're on a flat path without obstacles. God wants to make your journey easier. I want to yield to God. Carry me, lord, through this difficult journey. The Hebrew word for trust in this verse is batak, which conveys the idea of security and confidence, literally to cast oneself upon something with full weight. It pictures complete reliance, like lying down on a bed, fully trusting it will hold you. Proverbs 3, 5, 5 and 6 challenges our natural tendency toward self-reliance, inviting us to trust God completely, with our whole being, rather than depending on our limited perspective. Numbers 38 and 39 in our list of 101 favorite Bible verses is Isaiah, 41, verses 10 and 13.

Speaker 3:

Reading from the New King James Version Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand, for I, the Lord, your God. And the New International Version I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand, for I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you Do not fear, I will help you. The New American Standard Version. Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Surely, I will help you. And in the message don't panic, I'm with you. There's no need to fear, for I'm your God. I'll give you strength, I'll help you, I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. That's right, because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I'm not letting go. I'm telling you don't panic.

Speaker 3:

The Hebrew phrase fear not, al-tira appears twice in these verses, emphasizing God's desire for His people to live without fear. The word for dismayed, tishta, conveys the idea of looking around anxiously or being overwhelmed by circumstances. God counters this with five powerful promises using active verbs I am with you. Presence, I will strengthen you. Empowerment, I will help you. Assistance, I will uphold you support and I will hold your right hand intimate guidance. The repeated mention of God's right hand, yamin, is significant as it symbolizes power, authority and honor. In Hebrew culture. These verses present God not as a distant deity, but as an intimate, supportive presence, actively involved in strengthening His people. God offers comfort by addressing our core human fears with His personal promises.

Speaker 3:

In conclusion, these three passages form a progressive spiritual journey. Psalm 46.10 invites us to stop striving and create space to know God intimately In that stillness. Proverbs 3, 5, and 6 teaches us to trust completely in God's wisdom rather than our own limited understanding. And from that place of trust, Isaiah 41, verses 10 and 13, assures us that we need not fear life's challenges because God personally strengthens, helps and upholds us with His righteous hand.

Speaker 3:

Together, these scriptures reveal a God who invites us into relationship rather than religious performance. He calls us to the transformative practices of stillness and trust, not to burden us with more spiritual to-dos but to free us into the peace, wisdom and strength that comes from authentic connection with Him. As we learn to be still trust beyond our understanding and receive His help, we discover that God doesn't just guide our way. He holds our hand every step of the way. Friends, in our next episode, call Upon the Lord, we will continue our look at the best of the best 88 Bible Scripture passages by looking at numbers 40, 41, and 42 in my favorite 101 Bible verses. In my favorite 101 Bible verses, we'll look at Psalm 50, verse 15, jeremiah 33, 3, and Romans 8, 31. I hope you've enjoyed our time together and I pray you have a mighty moment with God today. Be blessed.
