Speaker 3:

God's goodness. In this episode of Mighty Moment we continue our 31-day journey looking at the best of the best scriptures from the Bible. These are incredible passages that you'll want to remember. These are 88 of my personal favorite passages from the Bible my top 101 verses. The total list of verses is not in any prioritized order, but the three verses for each episode are grouped together by a general theme, but each verse is awesome in and of its own right and worthy of putting to memory. Contact Mighty Moment if you'd like a copy of my best of the best list.

Speaker 3:

In the tapestry of biblical revelation, god's goodness shines as a consistent thread weaving through every chapter of His story. This episode explores three powerful scriptures Psalm 34.8, psalm 86.5, and 1 Peter 5.7. Each unveils different dimensions of divine goodness, from the invitation to experience it firsthand to the assurance of His caring nature that carries our burdens. Number 29 on our list is Psalm 34, verse 8, the invitation to experience God's goodness. Reading from the New King James Version O. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who trusts in Him. The New International Version reads and the New American Standard Version, the Message version reads Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him. And the Living Bible reads O. Put God to the test and see how kind he is. See for yourself the way His mercies shower down on all who trust in Him. Some things just cannot be described and must be experienced. God invites us to receive His goodness and see how awesome he is and how deep His love is for us. But it is one of those things. Until you experience it, you really won't understand. God understands our skepticism, especially in our jaded society with marketing that oversells and everything being called the best even when it isn't. Hence he simply says give it a try. This verse also addresses the dependability of God's promises. This is a confident invitation to test God and you will know how good he is. The invitation is not a possibility but a guarantee. You may have heard the expression guarantee. You may have heard the expression God is good and then the response all the time. I pray that you taste and see that God is good and that soon that very expression will be coming out of your mouth as well that God is good all the time.

Speaker 3:

The Hebrew word for taste, ta'am, in this passage conveys far more than casual sampling. It suggests a deliberate, personal experience, actively partaking of something to determine its quality firsthand. This invitation extends beyond intellectual assent to spiritual truth. It calls for direct experience of God's nature. This invitation to both taste and see combines multiple senses, emphasizing that knowing God's goodness engages our whole being, not just our intellect. I have to admit that I'm one who eats quickly, probably too quickly, rarely taking my time. I even usually chew up my lollipops instead of licking them.

Speaker 3:

God here is inviting us to pause, take our time to linger, enjoy, experience, relish His goodness. Consider a master chef who has prepared an exquisite meal. He doesn't merely describe the intricate flavors or show photographs of the beautifully plated dishes. Instead, he extends His hand and says Taste it for yourself. God, as the Creator of all goodness, doesn't just tell us about His goodness. Through His Word, he invites us to experience it personally, just as describing a magnificent sunset pales compared to watching one.

Speaker 3:

Number 30 on our list is Psalm 86, verse 5, the Forgiveness of God's Goodness, reading from the New King James Version. For you, lord, are good and ready to forgive and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon you. The New International Version reads you, lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. And the Message Version reads and the Living Bible to you. And the Living Bible, o Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask your aid.

Speaker 3:

God is the very definition of good, not kind of good part of the time, completely good all the time. He does not need to get caught up to speed on your situation. He does not need to be convinced that you're worthy to help. There's no waiting period. He stands ready to impart to us what we need exactly when we need it. And God's help is available to everyone, regardless of pedigree, money, race past, education, status, age, gender. Everyone. He wants to help, and why? Because he loves us. You see, god is love. He waits for us in love, he listens to us in love, he engages with us in love, he receives us in love, he responds to us in love, he forgives us in love. But we must engage, we must come, we must call on the Lord. Whether we receive this incredible grace and help is ultimately up to us. Will we humble ourselves and come to the Lord? The verse clearly says to all those who call on the Lord. The Hebrew phrase ready to forgive used here, salach, portrays God not as reluctantly pardoning but as eagerly waiting to extend forgiveness. This readiness suggests God anticipates our request for forgiveness with a favorable disposition. He's poised to forgive before we even ask.

Speaker 3:

An illustration that demonstrates unimaginable forgiveness, like God wants to give us, is in 2006,. The Amish community of Nickel Mines, pennsylvania, experienced unimaginable tragedy when a gunman entered a schoolhouse, shooting 10 girls and killing five before taking his own life. While the world watched in horror, the Amish community demonstrated extraordinary forgiveness, attending the shooter's funeral, comforting his widow and establishing a fund for his family. Schooner's funeral comforting his widow and establishing a fund for his family. Number 31 on our list is 1 Peter 5.7, the Care of God's Goodness.

Speaker 3:

Reading from the New King James Version Casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you. The New International Version Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. In the New American Standard Version, the Messed Version reads him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. This verse is a reminder that we have someone to go to in times of need. God has asked us to give him our burdens and worries. This verse begins with an active word, though. We must take the initiative to give, to cast. Are we ready to give God our worries and anxieties and baggage? Truthfully, we often say we do, but we yet cling to them. We linger and mull over our guilt and anxiety and worry. We ultimately never give God anything, just lip service. To be freed from our burdens, we must release them. And why does God want to be involved? Where does this invitation come from? What motivates Him? Knowing motivation is very important. We see here that this verse reveals that God's motivation is that he loves us, he cares about us. God actually is concerned about you and me and what's happening in our lives.

Speaker 3:

Imagine a young child at the airport struggling to pull a rolling suitcase twice her size up a steep incline. Her small frame strains against the weight until her father, walking behind her, notices her struggle. Without a word, he lifts the suitcase from her hands, carrying it effortlessly while taking her hand in his. The child, now unburdened, skips alongside her father, her attention shifting from the weight she was carrying to the journey they're sharing. This simple scene mirrors the invitation of 1 Peter 5.7.

Speaker 3:

God doesn't merely offer advice about our burdens or sympathize from a distance. He invites us to transfer the weight completely to Him. Our anxieties don't disappear in a magical instant, but the responsibility for resolving them shifts from our limited capabilities to God's infinite resources. 1 Peter 5.7 presents the invitation to transfer our anxieties completely to God. In conclusion, these three passages create a magnificent tapestry displaying the multifaceted goodness of God. In Psalm 34.8, we're invited to experience God's goodness directly, to taste and see rather than merely hear about it secondhand. Then, psalm 86.5 reveals that this goodness expresses itself in God's eager readiness to forgive and His abundant mercy toward all who call upon Him. Finally, 1 Peter 5.7 demonstrates how God's goodness manifests in His willingness to carry our anxieties because of His personal care for us Together.

Speaker 3:

These verses present not just theological truths, but practical pathways to experiencing divine goodness in daily life. The progression through these passages mirrors the journey of deepening relationship with God. The progression through these passages mirrors the journey of deepening relationship with God. We begin by tasting His goodness, which leads to experiencing His forgiveness, which ultimately enables us to trust Him with our deepest concerns. God's goodness isn't merely an attribute he possesses, but an experience he invites us to share A goodness to be tasted, a forgiveness to be received and a care to be trusted, friends. In our next episode, abundant Provision, we will continue our look at Psalm 34, verse 10, john 10, 10, and Philippians 4, 19. I hope you've enjoyed our time together and I pray you have a mighty moment with God today. Be blessed.
